About Magali
Joined the L&S Office of Undergraduate Advising in:
September of 2018!
BA in English from UC Berkeley. Go Bears! :)
How did you get here?
I went to UC Berkeley for my undergrad and worked at the Transfer Center for most of my time. I really enjoyed working with students, especially non traditional minority students that come from underrepresented communities. I originally wanted to go into teaching but once I got to experience listening to students' stories and guiding them through the UC system, I changed course and wanted to go into advising. Once I graduated, I jumped at the opportunity to work in advising and have enjoyed my time here since.

What is your approach to advising?
My approach is to carefully listen to the students needs and really hear what they have to say. Being an open ear helps more than many can imagine.  I try to give my full support and help them as best I can.

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?
With patience everything will work out. You will get your degree and you will become successful! Don't view your time here as a race to the finish line but enjoy every moment and take your time! Don't be afraid to try different classes and new things! There is so much Berkeley has to offer, take advantage of it!
Most unusual job you ever had?
I pierced ears as my first 'official' job at an accessories store! Not the most unusual but definitely both exciting and terrifying!
About me:
I was born and raised in the Bay Area! I'm a huge fan of sports! Arriba Las Chivas and all Bay teams (SF). I love to read, learn about different topics, be outside, exercise, movies and anything makeup related!
