Readmission After Disqualification

Overview

If you have been disqualified from the College of Letters and Science (L&S) and want to apply for readmission, you will need to fulfill the terms of your readmission in order to be eligible to readmit into UC Berkeley.

Readmission is not required for enrollment in UC Berkeley Summer Sessions or UC Berkeley Extension - Concurrent Enrollment Program, though approval from an L&S College Adviser is required in order to receive grade points towards your UC GPA.

It is possible to graduate while on disqualification status, but only if all remaining degree requirements (i.e. UC, L&S, and major requirements) can be fulfilled without further coursework at Berkeley in a Fall or Spring semester. See "Readmission After Disqualification for Graduation Purposes Only" below.

If you have not been disqualified and want to resume your studies in L&S after withdrawing or being absent for one or more semesters, review the Readmission (after an absence) page.

If you had been previously declared or plan to declare in a CDSS major (Computer Science, Data Science, and/or Statistics) upon return, please consult with CDSS advising(link is external) to discuss readmission and change of college.

Deadlines for submitting packets are:

  • June 1st for Fall semester readmission (*Priority Deadline: March 15th)
  • November 1st for Spring semester readmission (*Priority Deadline: September 15th)

*In order to be on time for your Phase I registration appointment, it is strongly recommended to submit your completed request by the priority deadlines. Completed requests will still be accepted after the priority deadlines, but are not guaranteed to result in a Phase I registration appointment. Requests will not be considered after the June 1st and November 1st deadlines. See "Submitting your request" below for more details.
