What is your approach to advising?

My philosophy is rooted in strengths-based and student-centered holistic advising. I make sure to understand my biases and use an equitable lens as I encounter students. I make sure that I approach each student with mutual expectations of respect, accountability, transparency, and compassion.

How did you get here?

I was raised in sunny San Diego, CA and  made my way to the Bay for college. I started out pre-med as a Biochemistry major at SF State, but things changed and I switched to Kinesiology. I left California and moved to Texas in 2016, then Ohio in mid 2017. While away, I went on to get a masters in sports management, and worked as a compliance intern in athletics. After the start of COVID-19, I moved back to the Bay Area in the summer of 2021, where I started working at Cal State East Bay. I worked as a Senior Records Specialist in the Office of the Registrar, then as an athletic academic advisor. Now I am here at UC Berkeley, and embracing the wonderful change.

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?

1. Explore! Your whole life does not need to be figured out right away. Find your passions and love what you do. Stay curious and excited in the work that you do in and out of the classroom, and you will find success.

2. Find a mentor, an advocate, and an inspiration in the people you come across.

3. You have to make the most of your college experience, so have fun.

More about me

I am a huge cinephile, especially horror and action-dramas. I love pie in (almost) all forms, and I love history and learning something new about this beautiful world.
