What advice do you have for L&S students in general?
Be curious about the 40,000 students here with you. If you had coffee with a person each day it would take 100+ years to meet everyone, so get started! Instead of opening with, "What's your major?" ask "What are you excited about?" Allow their dreams and experiences to inspire you.

How did you get here?
I followed a series of interests that led to a career path. When I started studying at UC Berkeley, I wanted to work in the publishing industry, but I discovered that I disliked working on a campus literary magazine and at an off-campus editorial internship. I recommend testing your ideas about future plans by experimenting with internships and extracurriculars.  After finishing my degree and studying abroad through UCEAP, I tried law, accounting, and teaching before beginning to work with university students. My experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the ways Berkeley can open you to new possibilities and also compassion for challenges you face here. I look forward to supporting you. Go Bears!
About me:
I spent my first 18 years in a small New England town and the rest moving between the SF East Bay, the SF South Bay, the LA area, France, and Japan. Ask if you need moving tips!
