B.A. in Social Welfare & Minor in Chicanx/Latinx Studies from UC Berkeley (2024)

How did you get here?

During my first semester at CC, I was very lost and confused on what courses to enroll in, and what to major in. I am the first in my family to pursue a higher education, therefore I did not have the support from my family on navigating college. I joined Puente at Ohlone College, where I found a community of students who are also first-generation Latinx college students, and through this community I found the support I truly needed on how to navigate CC and how to achieve my long term goals. I developed close connections with my Puente Professors and counselors at Ohlone, and through these relationships I discovered that I want to pursue a career in higher education. My passion and goal to pursue a career in higher ed led me to apply for the L&S Peer Adviser role once I got to Berkeley, in order to gain more knowledge and skills on advising students in a bigger university. I truly loved and enjoyed my time as a peer in L&S, and I am very grateful to take on the Intake Adviser role in L&S!

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?

Join and explore different communities. I used to be very reserved and closed off to new experiences. However, during my time at UC Berkeley I joined different clubs and communities, and through this I learned a lot about myself and connecting with others. I also met many new people, which taught me a lot about bettering relationships with others.

About me

I love exploring the Bay Area (born & raised!), trying new coffee shops and restaurants, going to concerts, and traveling! Some of my favorite places to visit are Southern California, New York, and Texas! I also love pilates, matcha, reading, and skincare!
