Intercampus Visitor Program - L&S Guidelines

Purpose of Intercampus Visitor Program

The purpose of the Intercampus Visitor (ICV) Program is to provide University of California students with the opportunity to visit another campus for one term to study curricula not offered at the home campus and which will directly augment and enhance their major course work. The ICV is not intended for exploration or pre-graduate/pre-professional school preparation; rather it is for declared juniors or seniors who wish to expand the course offerings in their chosen major fields. Students will not be admitted to the ICV Program for personal, non-academic reasons, nor for elective study unrelated to their declared majors.

Guidelines

Berkeley students visiting another UC campus:

  1. Student applicants must have declared a major and be at junior or senior standing before beginning the program.
  2. Students may participate for a maximum of one term with the exception of spring when two quarters of study (winter and spring quarters) may be permitted with the approval of both home campus and host campus.
  3. Students must "visit" college equivalent to Letters & Science; they cannot, for example, "visit" a professional or graduate school or college at the host campus.
  4. In addition to the standard application, each student applicant must submit a statement of purpose indicating clear academic criteria for the intercampus visit together with a letter of support from a major faculty adviser or department chair stating how the proposed course work will benefit the student's major field of study.
  5. Berkeley students will be held to the regular senior residency requirement upon completion of an intercampus visit.

There may be additional impacted areas not open to Intercampus Visitors.
  7. Graduating seniors must provide a statement verifying completion of residency requirements and major requirements at their home campus prior to admission to Berkeley.
  8. An intercampus visitor to Berkeley may not transfer to the College of Letters and Science at Berkeley immediately after completion of the ICV semester.
